Last weekend I went to the San Diego Comic-Con 2012. First, let me apologize for not having more game news to talk about here; I didn't go as Game Boyz writer, and I had other things to see. In fact, I was most excited about meeting my favorite science-fiction author, John Scalzi, and my favorite band, the Aquabats! However, I did get to see some games.

Behemoth's newest game, Battleblock Theater, is looking fantastic. I enjoyed playing it a little, and more over I enjoyed the booth. It was like a little arcade. Unlike most other game companies that give you a PS3 or 360 controller, these cabinets used sticks and arcade buttons. Awesome! The game itself does for the platformer what Alien Hominid did for the run and gun and Castle Crashers did for the hack and slash. Behemoth knows what they're doing, and it's a ton of fun.

I also played two kart racers - LittleBigPlanet Karting and Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. I don't like realistic racing games, but I absolutely love kart racing. The Mario Kart series is a staple, but I also really enjoyed the original Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing. Both of these two new games were a lot of fun. They both also felt like the ground in the game was more slippery than the standard in Mario Kart. At first it seemed like the controls weren't perfect, but I did get used to it. LBP Karting used grip a lot; in the platformer, Sackboy has to grab onto things and swing. The same goes in Karting. After performing a jump, you'll need press R1 at the peak to grab hold of something and swing forward to land.

Transformed follows the same gimmick as the latest Mario Kart - transforming karts. It might not be original, but it was still a lot of fun. The original felt very unique compared to Mario Kart, so I hope more people give Transformed a chance. SEGA really does have a decent stable of iconic characters, and it's nice to see them get the spotlight. These are both games I'm going to purchase right away!
